I first blogged about this issue 12 years ago, in 2012. You can read the post here. Well, it took a long time, but it finally happened! Starbucks has announced that they will no longer charge for using plant based milk. Yay!

This makes me happy!

Not only should cow milk not be considered the standard, but we should not be over-charged for opting for a milk that is not dairy. There are millions of people opting for plant based milks today, whether for ethics, allergies, or taste preferences, and it shouldn't come with a high surcharge. They weren't even just charging to cover their costs that may be associated with the switch. They were gouging us!

This is a good move and hopefully other places will start following suit.
