Review: Plantees Burgers in Orlando

Plantees6

This past Saturday we were going to an Orlando City soccer game, so we decided to check out Plantees  Burgers before the game. This new vegan restaurant is located around 10 minutes away from Exploria Stadium, so it would work out great. I love to try vegan restaurants, so I was excited.

There were three of us (me, my husband and my son). I ordered a single and they both ordered a double, then we got two fries to share. We had drinks with us from being at soccer right before arriving there, so we decided to use our own drinks. The restaurant is really cute. I like the way they have set it up. There's a small place to order inside, then you have an outdoor seating area with large picnic tables. They also have some bean bags if you want to sit out on the lawn. Even though it was a warm summer day, it was still pleasant sitting out there, because it's shaded/covered and they have fans.

The food was ready quickly and we dug in. I didn't know before I went, but they use Impossible burgers and Follow Your Heart Cheese. The restaurant is all vegan, and they sell burgers, fries, and drinks (shakes, beer, etc.). The menu is small, which I like. It's basically a fast food vegan burger restaurant. The burgers and fries were good. I liked them! My husband and son liked it all as well, although my husband felt that even for a double burger it seemed small. I had a single and it seemed just right to me. You can never please everyone with portion sizes, because people all eat different amounts.

The food came to us nicely packaged in a to-go bag and when I opened it you can see the burgers on top. Great presentation! The fries were really good, thin and crisp, and they give you a lot. They have specialty sauces to dip them in that you can choose from. One container was enough for two of us to share. We tried the mustard agave and Plantees sauce. Everyone liked the food and gobbled it up.

My only complaint about this place is that they use Impossible burgers. I feel like Impossible and Beyond are beginning to dominate the restaurant scene and it's the only veggie burger you can get. I like more of a variety. But I get that this is a simple route and many people, including meat eaters, are familiar with the Impossible name and may be more inclined to try the veggie burger. I like the taste of the Impossible burger, but I'd like a burger that has cleaner ingredients (although this one is better than many out there), and isn't part of what is taking over. Anyway, beyond that I like everything about Plantees.

I love places like Plantees. We need more vegan restaurants like this everywhere in the country. While it's a little pricey, it's more reflective of what a burger costs and is a better choice than meat burgers. It's a cute place, the service and food is good, and I love the idea of what they are doing. We will go back again for sure! If you are looking for a vegan fast food burger experience in Orlando, you can't go wrong by going to Plantees! I'm looking forward to trying one of their shakes, too!
