As a child I loved marshamallows. How many kids don't, right? They are sweet, tasty, and can be used in a variety of ways to help produce yummy goodness. I grew up having regular bonfires, and loved to roast marshmallows, too! Becoming a vegetarian it was one of the things that I was sad to give up. I kept wondering why someone couldn't just make a vegetarian marshmallow?!
Well, someone has, and they are devine! Dandies Vegan Marshmallows, which I've bought several times now, are the real deal. They are available at Whole Foods Market, among other places. They taste exactly like traditional marshmallows, look like them, and all. What a treat! My kids are also loving them. I think my daughter keeps asking for hot chocolate, just to have it topped with marshmallows.
Two thumbs up for the Dandies Vegan Marshmallows. I would have settled for vegetarian marshmallows, as the traditional ones are not (the gelatin), but being vegan makes it that much sweeter! If you can get your hands on some, check them out! You will not be disappointed.
While they are too small to roast on an open fire (hint, hint, they need to make large ones, too), they can be used for a lot of things. If you want to roast some, pick up the Sweet & Sara vegan marshmallows. They roast up wonderfully!
