Vegan French Toast Recipe

Vegan French toast is not only easy to make, but it tastes delicious! This is a recipe that the kids love as much as the adults do. And with this recipe you skip the cholesterol and cruelty associated with the egg industry.
To make vegan French toast I start with organic whole wheat bread. To make the batter, use a medium size mixing bowl and add:
1.5 cups of milk (soy, almond, hemp, etc.)
3 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast flakes
2 teaspoons of sugar or sweetener
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix together all the ingredients to combine. Then dip each side of the bread into the mixture so it is coated. Then put it on the hot griddle or skillet, which I usually lightly spray with olive oil. Let each side cook a couple of minutes, until brown. Alternatively, you can dip the slices and then lay on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees until both sides are brown (turning slices over once). Top with vegan butter (optional) and pure maple syrup. Enjoy!
This recipe usually makes enough batter to coat 7-9 slices of bread.
Nutritional yeast? Really? It doesn't make it taste weird? We LOVE French Toast and we really miss it.

Hi Vibeke,
No, not weird at all! I think you will be surprised at how delicious this vegan French toast is.
If you haven't bought nutritional yeast, here's my page on it:
