A couple of nights ago my sister called to remind me about a show she thought I'd
like. It was Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. I often complain to her about the way America's children are fed, especially while at school, so when she saw the previews for this new series she knew it was something I could get into. And she was right!
I tuned in the other night for the sneak preview. It was quite interesting. Oliver has come to America to try to transform eating habits and get people to eat more natural and wholesome foods. He's starting with the school system. And what a mess they were feeding those kids! Pizza for breakfast, followed up by chicken nuggets for lunch. Loads of cow milk. All processed foods dripping in fat, hydrogenated oils, etc.
The actual two-hour season premier for the show will be this Friday, March 26, 2010. Visit the site or check your local listings to see what time and channel it's on. While this show is not vegetarian-themed it does provide a good look at what is going on in the American school lunch program. And it's interesting to see one man's battle to try to change it.
