I was pretty excited when I spotted the Gardein skillet meals in the store. They are in the freezer section and pretty much meals that are ready in about 15 minutes. Not bad! My family has tried two of them now. We had the chick'n florentine while at home, just because we were excited to try them, and this past weekend we tried the chick'n fried rice while camping.
Here's what I liked and didn't like about them:
- They are really convenient. Everything you need is in the bag, so you don't have to buy 6 ingredients and then chop and prepare everything. It's literally done in about 15 minutes.
- The chick'n florentine was too spicy for me and for both kids. My husband liked it though, because he likes spicy foods. We probably wouldn't buy that one again, because it's too spicy.
- The chick'n fried rice was good. Everyone liked it!
- I don't really like the price of them. One bag is small and it's $7. So for my family (two adults and two kids) you need two bags. That's $14. Kind of pricey!
I doubt I will make these much at home, quite honestly, because of the cost. However, I really liked the idea of taking it camping. We spent a day at the spring snorkeling and came back to the RV hungry. Within 15 minutes dinner was ready and everyone liked it. I will probably take them camping again because of the convenience. I'd still like to try the other two to see what they are like! If you are looking for a quick meal that you can heat up and get on the table these make a great choice. Just try them all to see which ones you family likes.
