If it's been a while since you have had trail mix, it's time to try it again! But don't buy
the store bought trail mix. Instead, make it yourself!
I always try to keep a container of the trail mix on hand. It's so easy to make and is a great little snack for the kids, as well as to put in the husband's lunch once in a while. And by making it yourself, you have better control over what, and how much, goes into it.
In my trail mix, I start by taking a container with a tight fitting lid. I add in 1/2 cup of cashews, 1/2 cup of peanuts, 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds, 1/2 cup of raisins (golden raisins pictured), and 1/2 cup of mini dark chocolate chunks (I get them at Whole Foods Market). Mix it all together and in minutes you have a tasty and healthy treat that is perfect for taking on the go, nature walks and more! And did I mention that kids love this healthy snack?
