For those of you have been touting President Obama as some saving grace to the
environmental or vegetarian movement, think again. He eats a meat-based diet just like every other president the country has had (I've written on this in the past as well).
So while he can woo you all he wants with saying nice things about caring for the environment, when it comes down to it he simply doesn't walk the talk.
At this week's health care summit, the menu consisted of chicken, salmon, turkey and steak salads, along with some veggie side dishes. No vegetarian main dish options listed, my friends.
What did Obama dine on? The poor chicken. I'm sure had he wanted a vegan option, one would have been prepared for him with no problem. Perhaps he is not aware of the environment problems that are caused by the chicken production or how horrible chickens are treated and harmed on the way to his table? Or the health problems that can come from eating chickens. Or... I could go on and on...
Just one more demontration among many that he is not the saving environmental grace that people think he is. He's just a smooth talker.

I think that whether he wanted a vegan option or not, there should have been several vegan, or at the very least, vegetarian options. It was a health summit, so the focus should have been on (alternative) healthy options.

Vibeke, I completely agree with you! That's why I mentioned that there wasn't any veg main dish option. Kind of sad for a health care meeting!
