Each year 40-50 million people visit Orlando, Florida. Vegetarians in the country make up around three percent of the adult population, with just over one percent of those being vegan. So it stands to reason that around 1.5 million of the
yearly visitors are vegetarian, with over a third of them being vegan. Luckily, Orlando vegetarian restaurants offer great taste and variety.
Here's are some vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Orlando to add to your travel itinerary:
Ethos Vegan Kitchen - I have previously reviewed Ethos and it makes it to the top of the list, because it is my favorite area restaurant. They consistently have good food, the menu is all vegan, and they have a nice atmosphere. Even my two kids love going there. They like the food and the games that are available to keep them occupied. If you go, try the coconut curry wrap or What's the Dilly, Philly?
Loving Hut - This is a restaurant that is growing in number. They now have locations in several states. They offer an electic menu and all the food is vegan. Try the spring rolls!
Woodland's - Check out Woodlands, for pure vegetarian Indian food. This restaurant offers additional locations outside of the Orlando area.
Vegan Hot Dog Stand - In downtown Orlando, on Orange Avenue, you can grab a vegan hot dog. Try the sweet sauce option on top, yum!
Pizza Fusion - While it's not completely a vegetarian restaurant, they do offer great vegan pizza! Plus, the restaurant aims to be environmentally friendly. I have also reviewed this restaurant here.
If you happen to make your way over to St. Augustine, America's oldest city, for any of the tourist attractions, be sure to check out the Manatee Cafe.

Vegetarian and Vegan Options at Disney World
If you are a vegetarian or vegan planning to attend Disney World, you will want to make sure you pack a bag/backpack with some items to eat (e.g., trail mix, cereal bars, nuts, etc.). The vegetarian, and especially vegan, options at Disney World are very limited. They do offer a few vegetarian options (e.g., veggie burgers, fries). However, even reading the restaurant menus before attending is not reliable. I had done a lot of research before we went and when we arrived several of the restaurants that I noted as having veg*n food were not open that day (for no apparent reason). So be sure to keep some things on hand, just in case you hit some snags, as we did.
