Today we went to the Central Florida Veg Fest in Orlando. This was our third year attending, as we've went every year since living in Florida. I also volunteered a couple of hours in the morning over in the Veggie Kid Zone. The Veggie Kid Zone, presented by humane educator Sophia Erlsten, was a lot of fun this year. They made animal masks, sipped vegan smoothies, had a scavenger hunt for stuffed animals (all of which had came from thrift stores to be better on the planet), and had lots of vegan treats.
There were also other activities planned for the kids, such as a visit to Animal Haven to visit with rescued animals and yoga for kids. We didn't stay for these, however, because by that time we were ready for some tasty veggie food, and we had so many options to choose from!
We did a lot of grazing, trying things from various food vendors. We had lemonade, iced tea, veggie dogs, Indian food from Khasiyat, and summer rolls from Loving Hut! As a vegetarian we don't usually have so many wonderful food choices all in one place. There were so many places we would have still loved to get food from, but after all that we couldn't fit anymore!

For this event I created a Veg Kid Activity Sheet (one side has an activity sheet, the other side is some veg kid-friendly recipes, click to Download Veg kid activity sheet). Feel free to download it for your kids or an event. Also, TeachKind offers a downloadable kids "We're All Animals" coloring book. You can print these off as needed.
Look for events like this in your area, even if you have to drive a little ways like we did (this event is about 45 minutes away from where we live). It's a great experience for the whole family!
